Design Bank is a not for profit social enterprise rooted in the heart of the Miltown Malbay community. Open all year round, we provide a welcoming and inclusive space where people can connect, exchange ideas, engage with culture and celebrate local creativity.

As an independent community initiative, we rely on the generosity of supporters to help us thrive and continue serving the wider community. Your contribution helps sustain our day today operations while enabling us to expand our vision and deliver new opportunities that enrich community life.

With your support, we aim to:

• Deliver a range of free and affordable workshops, demonstrations and events throughout the year, led by talented local artists and makers, alongside visiting creatives who bring fresh perspectives, expertise and inspiration to our community.
• Launch a Cultural & Educational Programme for primary and secondary school students, offering unique opportunities to meet artists, makers and entrepreneurs, gain insight into creative practice, and explore the skills, innovation and dedication involved in building a sustainable enterprise. Students will also have the opportunity to visit Kind Kitchen, where they can learn about food production, sustainability and the circular economy, while enjoying and sampling a diverse range of delicious multicultural cuisine. (We’ve already begun talks with St. Joseph’s Primary School in Miltown and St. Joseph’s Secondary School in Spanish Point)
• Establish a regular programme of live performances by local musicians, bringing music into both Design Bank and Kind Kitchen throughout the day and creating a vibrant atmosphere for visitors, locals and the wider community.
• Invest in battery storage technology to complement our existing solar energy infrastructure, helping us progress towards carbon neutrality, reduce our environmental footprint, and maximise the renewable energy we generate by returning surplus power to the grid.
